The White Sox have signed outfielder Jarred Kelenic to a minor league contract with a non-roster invitation to spring training.
Kelenic, 26, elected free agency earlier this offseason after the Atlanta Braves removed him from their 40-man roster and outrighted him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
2025 Season
Kelenic appeared in 24 games for Atlanta last season, hitting .167 with a .531 OPS while playing primarily in right field.
Draft Pedigree
The New York Mets selected Kelenic with the sixth overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, then traded him to Seattle as the centerpiece of a deal that sent Edwin DΓaz and Robinson CanΓ³ to New York.
When Kelenic made his major league debut with the Mariners in May 2021, he was ranked as MLB Pipeline's fourth overall prospect.
Career Statistics
In parts of five major league seasons, Kelenic has posted a .211/.282/.376 slash line with a .658 OPS and a 30.6% strikeout rate.
His best season came in 2023, when he recorded a 111 OPS+ and was worth 1.5 fWAR.
White Sox Outfield
Kelenic will compete for a roster spot during spring training.
